I am not sure if this is in the correct place, but has anyone ever made their own Christmas Manger.?
I have made one out of paper mache, on a peice of hard board, and with todays low cost electronics I have been able to put a light on the inside to light up the Baby Jesus. Its great fun I will post my image later on if thats ok. Maybe something to do with the Kids for next year. My brother and I did one about 20years ago and every year it gets taken down from the loft and placed under the tree. I have had to redo it now because the original was looking a bit sad and tired, but I got His children involved with the new one, so the tradition carries on.

Here is my Crib for Christmas, I dont likje the shop bought stables, they are silly looking, I have based this on the fat that in the middle east at the time, most houses and farm buildings were carved out of rock.
You can not tell from the photo but there are two halogen lights inside, when the figures go in there will be a pool of light on the baby Jesus. Please ignore green plastic, the paint is still wet. Dont want it on my lovley new carpet.

The figures are my Mum and Dad's, they have had them for years, including the three king with a camel, which of course wont be at the scene for a while yet.....I think they bought them from Liverpool Catherdal the first year they were married. Very scared to the family a tradition that when I have kids one day, I will do the same with them. I will hopefully inherit the crib figures....but not for a long long time.

I agree, in a way we still have the original, just modified, as I said before my brother and I made this when we were very young, about 22years ago, he sadly is no longer with us. The original was looking very tatey and sagging in the middle, so I got his 2 young daughters 11 and 7yrs together put in the new lights, just pocked them through the paper and reinforced the original, covering up the lights sticking out of the top, recovering the whole thing, then we painted it together, so in a way my brothers work is the foundations for the crib, I must admit it brought a lump to my throat thinking what fun he would have had with us. But the spirit lives on, I told his girls all about the day when he and I had first made this, what a mess we had made...we had such a giggle then and now.

That makes the figures much more valuable.
I'm sure your brother would be proud of you.
