I prefer to use unstretched canvas and then have a gallery stretch it for me. Basically I use canvas as I would paper ( kind of). I put it on the floor, paint on it, wait till it dries and then draw on it with all kinds of markers. Later, I simple mail it to a gallery and ask them to stretch for me ( and I , of course, pay them for it).

It comes out looking quite good.

Here is an example of what the finished product looks like- my artworks are at the back of the gallery:

It's a personal point of view ..., :clapping: it may has some advantages, but I prefer to use stretched canvas, probably because I don't paint on the floor, just use an easel :clapping:

Oh, yes, that is the traditional way and most people prefer it that way. For me unstreched canvas is better as I do not have to be on my feet all the time and can sit and manipulate markers from all angles.

:clapping: Hi SPAM - :clapping: to the site - hope you enjoy it. Personally I would prefer my canvases already stretched - I use the 'box' type - but I suppose it was you get used to. What 'markers' do you use in your artwork? :clapping:

Well ... Just to mention that the software changes your member name
with the word "SPAM" :clapping: this is not what Denise has written!

Ps: I'll do an exception to the rules and will remove manually your name from the
warnings DB.

Thank you! Anyway, I use paint markers on most artworks. I also use liquid paper and metallic markers. So, I put color first and draw upon it later. Here are two examples of unstretched canvas with paint markers:

You obviously have a lot going through your head at once by looking at your work - is this true? I think I asked in another post what 'markers' do you use? Is there any significance to the numbers and writing on the second piece? Again, some unusual stuff - I like it :cheer:

Any non-water based markers will do, referably paint markers and also metallic ones. Thick ones serve to create volume and dilute some dark markers and create smoother transitions between colors and hsades. You can also use white out ( liquid ink) to make white lines.

Make sure that the markers do not fade later- some cheap ones do.

The significance of numbers? That is a mother board with numbers on various chips and transistors. the piece is called "Cyber Africa".

It's definitely Africa :cheer:, I can see elephants, zebras, giraffes and other creatures :)
composition of the second one is very well balanced and this red in the middle is a perfect accent,. Your works show a very good sense of details, I'm personally a big fan of details and sometimes just can't stop ... with them, have the feeling that there is something that I have to add :)

Thank you for sharing that with us davidkessell. Very interesting. Look forward to seeing some more. Out of interest - how much do you sell these for - if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you for all your comments. I am not sure if I am allowed to discuss prices of artworks on this forum. Is it OK?

I would sell it for $500 at least.

By the way, here is another painting on unstretched canvas:

This is interesting too - you can see lots of things in it. What medium did you use to paint this one?
