this is to do with miniature figure painting so its not an exact match but alot of the techniques could be interchangeable, both are dealing with painting a three dimensional object. I especialy recomend the techniques and sculpting sections as probably being the most useful for you.coolminiornot articles some figure artists use inks in their techniques and you will probably also find useful info on varnishing in there as well.

I love the fish. its fantastic and hope you will do aWIP of your next project :)

Hi hawkwood, Thanks very much for the information (coolminornot) have had a quick look at it but will need some time to find the parts i could use so i'veput it on favourites so that i can look at my leasure . I'm not really sure how to go about a w.i.p. other than how i posted with the trout , maybe something like showing the shapeing of the horn ?I'll have to work that out . I have started on some staghorn (antler) but cannot start on another ramshorn (pheasant head ) as i have yet to obtain a suitable horn ,this will be for my neighbour . I have three ramshorns , each one i have chosen for a particular type of stick 1) a crook type with a scroll and thistle 2) a sheperds working crook 3) a cardigan stick . These three will have to wait now , so when i get the new ramshorn i'm afraid that will be the next one posted w.i.p. . Went out today to try and find stockists of drawing ink . No luck try again later in the week .Regards Stickmaker :)
