Hi All , I put a coat of "thinned" acrlic paint on some rams horn last night so that it would be really dry to put on a second different colour during the next day . When i came to do so it was "peeling " the first coat off . Could this be because the first coat was watered down to much ? It has'nt happened before ! Paints were all made by same manufacturer . I've cleaned horn down again now ready for a fresh start . Anyone any ideas ? Regards Stickmaker :)

It could be be because the first coat was done with too diluted paints,
but it might be because rams horns have natural gloss surface and the paints
can't soak into it.
Maybe you should try to clean the surface with alcohol, sometimes it helps.
I don't think the problem is in the acrylics you use, especially if you've used them
before and they haven't caused any problems.

Hi Deco , Thanks for your reply. I thought maybe thinning the paint to much may have been the the trouble . I was after putting on a light green so the colour was the right shade but thinned down; failed in what i was after achieving . I then cleaned everything down and started again , this time putting on a silver (base) allowing drying time and applied the green as tin as i dared , not bad but i will learn .I will be posting the results of my latest project in the very near future and you can judge for your self . Best Regards Stickmaker :)
