I use inks with a brush, but other than that I can't help you. I haven't used horn as a material and I've never come across iridescent ink.
I think the best thing you can do is experiment with the horn. Sorry I can't be of more help.

won't be able to paint directly on the surface, cuz it's unctuous, but the best way,
as Starry suggested is to experiment
Sorry, but I'm also not quite familiar with inks, I don't use them much, but
when I paint with inks I use brush or nib and recently I bought very interesting
W&N silver ink, it's very interesting material, I even tested it on oil!

the photo isn't good enough but the painting was wet when I took it.
I think the ink is a very good material, it covers very well and has a great metallic lustre. Hope to see some new work from you soon.
