Would the font be more striking in 'excalibur' or something equally archaic? :manoyes:

What about the background color? Do you insist on having black one?
I think that it looks more like newspaper advertisment and I agree with
peter about the fonts - gothic or archaic will be better. :)
Why don't you try to select a figure from the photo and paste it on the background,
I think it will give more compact look of the banners, because now the photos
don't match well with the background. Just few ideas. :)

thanks for the coments guys. The website, at least the last time I saw it in draught format, is gonna have a black and silver colour scheme so I went for the same colours in the banners to tie it in, is this not neccessary? I have no experiance with net advertising so any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated :) at the moment I am planing on placing the banners on the main wargames and figure painting forums, paying for it where needed and banner exchanges where I like the site. is there anything else along these lines I should be thinking about?

You must put on other sites as more back links to your site as you can
(links exchange for example). This will help you to improve your site Google PR
and your site position in search engines.
If you can afford it you may pay for Google AdWords to increase visits/traffic
to your site.
There are many other things, but I want to see your site firstly. :)

I think it's not always necessary. Banners are mode of advertising
and they have to attract visitors attention. :)
Of course the banner should be connected with your site,
but the most important thing is if it's well made! :)

errrr..... I have no idea when the site will become active as the guy who is building it for me has recently got married, changed jobs and been suffering computer problems in rapid succession so I havent been metaphoricaly standing over his shoulder tapping my foot impatiently, yet.

I only stuck it in here because I was a little unsure if I wanted it being open to the general public but on consieration I am happy to shift it if you think it would get a better response elswhere. just edit out this paragraph if you do :)

"back links"?

forgot to say earlier deco that I compleatly take your point about the photos mostly the reason they are not already seperated from the white backdrop is technical knowhow or rather lack thereof on my part

I've recently read that Google:
a, penalise websites who use certain links, particularly 'link farm' links.
b, only count links from sites with high PR

Please advise??

Yes, there is some talk about it, but in reality not
many people know about the real google algorithm (Google Technology).
Use legal Backlinks and google won't ban your site. :)

Of course it's better to have links on sites with high PR, but
it doesn't mean that the links on a site with PR 1 doesn't count.
Can you suppose how much costs a link on a site with PR8 or PR9!? :)

gotcha i think.

if in the ganeral course of a discussion about painting services i was to say " and here is a link to my site LINK" that would count as a backlink right?

would an entire forum count as one page for these purposes or would it be individual threads?

Sure! :) URL in your signature is also very useful for it. :)

It's difficult to answer, but usually 1 site link = 1 backlink, but
if you make a search in google you will find all your posts (if you post
a link to your site) as different results, so ...

The dynamic sites count (or not count) in different way.
