david.jpg 53.72K 75 downloadsI wouldn't call myself a master of reproduction, but I wanted to post this as a work in progress. Its a pencil drawing of Jacques-Louis David's 'Marat at his last breath'

This is only a small portion of it and in the next few weeks as it progresses I'll post more.
If you know the painting, compare the two and let me know what you think.

Duchess of Alba anyone? Didn't do the face 'cos she's ugly - that's what sent Goya into his black period! <_<

wasn't Goya suposed to be having an affair with her that got found out? I seem to remember that there are suposed to be a lot of 'secret' symbols of Goyas love in there.

HAs she got A 1950's cross your heart bra on or what? I realise how uneducated I am in the art world. I have not studied any art history at all so all this is going over my head. I just picked upa brush and started painting.

The problem is that her elbow is in line with her boob, making her look like Madonna. I know she's pointing at Goya's initials scraped in the sand, but I don't remember the rest......................I much prefer his later stuff - Santa devouring one of his Elves and all that................ :eusa_think:

The ring thing is that she has a ring with 'Alba' on it and on the next finger she has a ring with Goya's name on it. The markings on the ground say 'Solo Goya' which basically means 'Only Goya'.

So either hes infatuated or she is.
