Hi Stickmaker :)

Nice to see something new from you.
The painting looks great :) , think you've advanced a lot since the last time
you posted well done. :)
The work shows very good attention to detail and excellent
combination of colours. You've improved your technique a lot,
congratulations. :)
What's the real size of the canvas?

Just one suggestion if you don't mind :) I think the reflection of the tree
on the river is too enhanced and it's to close to the way the original tree looks,
as it's just a reflection it should be a bit softer. This will help dividing more the
foreground and background in the painting. What do you think? :)

Hi All ,Thank you for your comments ladies . Yes now that you have made it obviouse to me i must agree that your comments are spot on . The tree should not be so strongly done , perhaps a light wash on certain areas of it would soften it somewhat . Maybe i'll take it back to class one night and take my instructor to task :) :) :) . Actual size is 20" x 16" or 510 mm x 405 mm . Yes i have done a couple of sticks , see posting on work in progress . Regards Stickmaker ( come apprentice painter)

Weatherwise ,It is getting very cool here and winter isn't far off. I'm already shiverring . Brrrr.

Deedee - nice to see you back on Arttrade :whistling2:
Hope you're well and after the busy summer you'll have
more time for your artworks :cheer:

Stickmaker - I really didn't notice the dog :) until you mentioned :manoyes:
that's because the photos do not show a real close up of the stick
so when I zoomed it I saw it - quite interesting detail and very well done. :whistling2:
Re reflection ... it's up to you of course :) if you don't feel it needs
altering you don't have to do it, it was just a suggestion how the painting could
be improved :)

Hi Deco, Re reflection at this point in time i think i lack the confidence to make the change and not spoil the painting without a bit of supervision , i think it just needs a light wash over it to soften its appearance . At present i'm doing my first oil painting ;perhaps when i'm on the finishing of this i'll see about taking the painting back and see about doing it .I Have taken your suggestion on board and entirely agree with it , thanks very much for the input . Still learning Regards Stickmaker

Hi Stickmaker :whistling2:

Of course if you don't have the confidence that you can
change the reflection now you better don't do it but I personally think
most of the things I've learned have been from experimenting with different
materials, techniques etc - we all learn from our mistakes, don't we :cheer:
Look forward to seeing your first oil painting, I'm sure you'll have
no problems with the oils as you learn very quickly :whistling2: and from
what I've seen from your acrylic art works you advance very fast.
The best thing about working with oil paints is that you can alter the
painting as many times as you want as the drying process is far slower
than this of the acrylics :)

What brand oils you've chosen to work with? I'm just curious if your art instructor
has given you some advice about it :manoyes:

Hi Deco, Yes ithink i shall change the reflection ,but under guidance . I think i could do it but just need more confidence as i dont want to spoil what i've done . One of my instructors favourite saying appears to be "whack it on ". when i did the old school painting ( in acrylics) i took it home from the classroom and did just that, i went overboard with it a bit to be honest and was expecting some not very good comments, however he seemed quite impressed; which i must admit pleased me greatly . I like using the oil paint , it seems to" flow" nicely ,however cant get used to working it wet and trying to put another colour on top of the wet paint so im trying to help it to dry in the warmth of the house .I brought it back home from class last thursday and have just done some at it tonight . The paints im using are the Winton set of 10 plus whatever i use at the class which he provides .Thanks for your interest i'll post this oil when i finish it Regards Stickmaker

:whistling2: Hi Deedee nice to see you back on the forum again :cheer: I have done one or two new ones which are on other posts - posted a few weeks ago - have a look under past posts under Acrylic, Tempera & Water-colour! - If you still can't find them then let me know. Perhaps Deco could put links to them? She is better at that sort of thing than me :)

I'm not too great at the moment because I have broken my right foot and damaged my left arm and leg - although not broken. I don't think I will be doing any more painting for quite some time until I have healed !! :manoyes: :whistling2: I fell down about 12 marble steps on Friday collecting a couple of friends from the airport ! :) So I cannot get about much at all. In fact I am using my computer chair to get around the apartment! Until I can get a wheelchair.

All I can say Deedee it is a good job I am in this apartment because if I was in Tibi - I don't know what I would do being on my own most of the time! The apartment is great thank you. Love it :) :)

Have you done any new work?

Hi Stickamker :whistling2:

I'll look forward to seeing the updated painting when you decide
to change the reflection :whistling2:

Hi Denise :cheer:

I'm really sorry to hear that you've broken your leg :manoyes:
and you have not been well. Hopefully when you have the wheelchair
you'll be able go out as it's not nice to be stuck in the apartment :)
Hope you recover fast :)

But he said he is going to 'plug' it in - that wasn't nice was it? hahaha!! :manoyes: Well at least I thought he was joking!! :whistling2: :cheer:

Yes - me too Stickmaker :) So get cracking !! :)
