okay, so i still can't get to a scanner, but through way too much trial and error i found out that if you use the six inch tripod that came with my crappy camera, take off the flash, and hit the shutter button at the precise moment(it does some weird epileptic focusing thing) then you can take a pretty good pic. anyways just thought i'd repost some of the same and add in a few new ones.

These are exellent kc7655 (can't remember the digits of your name) a bit strange
Think you've done great work
, I like all of them
nice to see you managed to take better photos with your camera
Have you tried to use charcoal - it's nice material especially if you don't
want that shiny effect, think with your technique and sense of chiaroscuro
you'll make some great works

if you, or anyone, could recommend some good books or good sites that would be great.

Hi kc7655,
I've used charcoal many times, yes it works well
for the shades but blending is a bit difficult really.
For this reson I work on layers ie on layer is done
I use fixative or simply hair lacquer and when it's dry
I do the next layer, this way you can achieve nuances
and you have really black tones. Hope this helps.
BTW have you checked our shop for art books? There are some really
good books that maight assist you in improving your technique:
