cheer.gif Hi Deco - it looks gorgeous as usual smile.gif It amazes me how you get the texture on the petals - like the little lines that go through it smile.gif How do you do that? and if u don't mind me asking how did you get the little 'dots'? The colours too are beautiful in fact in one word I would say EXCELLENT smile.gif wink.gif I'm sure your friend will be delighted with it - who wouldn't? clapping.gif cheer.gif

Thanks Denise smile.gif I'm glad you like it finished smile.gif
Hope my friend will also like it when she receives it smile.gif
I'm going to send it Monday so I hope it will arrive on time for the wedding smile.gif)

Now I varnished it but chose a matt varnish because sometimes
the glossy one gives lots of gleams and it just spoils the texture
and because the texture of this one is a nice addition to the whole painting
I thought the matt varnish would be the better one smile.gif

As for the texture on the petals and dots -just different techniques
nothing so special smile.gif - they are just done with the small set of paints
I bought last year from Alicante smile.gif)
I firstly thought to not put the dots but when I looked on the painting
it just needed something to look finished so decided dots gonna do the job rolleyes.gif

cheer.gif Hi Deco - Did you post your artwork today? She will love it rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

You know I never think of matt I do all mine in gloss - but what you have said is right and I've never thought of this before - so this is a good tip for us artists smile.gif

I like the dots on it and as you say it finishes it off nicely smile.gif I wondered if you had used those 'artstiks' or whatever you call them not a brush - you know the ones in like small bottles with a pointed end ? But they were done with a paintbrush then?

Let us know what your friend thinks - mind you we all know what the answer will be smile.gif smile.gif

Yes I posted the painting today smile.gif will let you know'what she thinks
when she receives it smile.gif it took me an hour to wrap it up dry.gif but it was sent along
with a nice Wedding postcard smile.gif) Hope they will like the present smile.gif

Well... you must probably try once to varnish with matt smile.gif as many of your
art works are with different texures - you'll see the difference,
I just use Winsor Newton matt varnish as I find their products are the best smile.gif)

Dots ... smile.gif) obviously you're very curious about them rolleyes.gif
no I haven't used "artstiks" blink.gif ot any other "tools" smile.gif nor yet outliner paints in a tube smile.gif)
OK - they are just done directly with a tube of acrylic paint, hope this helps smile.gif

BTW - Did you see the post with "Poppies"?

Well I suppose I thought so at the time - but they will come in handy after all now won't they? wink.gif smile.gif whistling2.gif

Hi all

Just to let you know that the newly-married couple
received the painting and I got feedback that they really
like it smile.gif In fact they are going to take it with them and put
it in their apartment in Germany cheer.gif as they live there, so I'm
really pleased they liked the wedding present.
btw it arrived few days before the wedding which was great smile.gif

Thanks for your comment on the "Poppies" Denise and Deedee smile.gif It's appreciated
Denise I'll look forward to hearing some news on how it's going with the Matt varnish
or to see the new work you were about to paint for your balcony smile.gif

Hope everyone's well smile.gif)
